The Safe Way to Change a Flat Tire on the Road
If you are stuck on the road with a flat, ride on the rim a few feet to safely get the vehicle to the shoulder to work on the tire safely. Use the lug wrench and loosen each lug on the flat tire only slightly. Now it is safe to jack up the vehicle to the point the tire is clear of the road.
Remove the lugs off the flat tire now and then take the tire off the vehicle and set aside. Place the spare tire on the lug bolts and hand-tighten all the lugs. Lower the jack until the tire touches the ground and then tighten the lugs all the way.
Place the jack, all of the tools, and the flat tire in the vehicle’s trunk. Stop by our dealership to give our team a chance to inspect the treads on all the tires for signs of potential trouble.
